American Girl Samantha Doll
The American Girl Samantha doll is probably one of the most popular American Girl dolls of all time. Samantha Parkington is her full name and she is a smart, caring girl who lives with her well-off grandmother. The year is 1904 and there are all kinds of changes going on in the United States. There are some people that are struggling financially, but Samantha is sitting pretty with all of the luxuries of life at her finger tips. But even though she enjoys all of the finer things in life she begins to see that not everyone around her is as fortunate.
Samantha has a friend named Nellie who is the daughter of a servant and she is very poor. As they play together and talk together Samantha sees that Nellie's life is much different from her own. The Samatha doll by American Girl was one of the first 3 dolls released in 1986. Since her release she has been retired and is very hard to find since the dolls are not being made anymore. Samantha Parkington, 1904
Samantha Parkington was originally designated as Victorian by American Girl, but was really the only child that grew up by herself during the Edwardian period. Growing up in this period showed many challenges and hard times for her and the experiences she had overall were very overwhelming for a girl her age.
Samantha was sadly orphaned when she turned 5 years old and not too shortly after took under her Victorian grandmothers wing in Fictional Mount Bedford, New York. Samantha was a very kind girl, outgoing, and always tried to make the best out of any situation thrown at her for the most part. Samantha surprisingly wings up befriending a poor servant girl who's name is Nellie O'Malley. Ultimately, Nellie and Samantha and even Nellies younger sisters are together adopted by Sams Aunt and Uncle. Once under their care, they lived a fairly alright life for girls in their position, but it definitely could be better.
A lot of the experiences Samantha undertook are actually depicted in her little story books that originally came with her. Although finding these little items may be hard, or even seem near impossible, they aren't with the right research, time, and patience. Sadly though, something to consider before considering purchasing her books is that they have been reported to have been altered quite a bit and rip apart other characters from the American Girl series in a sense.
Now a days the most easier and common things to obtain from her and her series is the DVD set, as this had a higher quantity of distribution
vs. all of her other stuff. Sadly, these also will be very hard to allocate now a days on even a third part resource, but of course is more than possible.
Ultimately American Girl decided to and announced that they'd put her into the archives in October of 2008, but that was alright, as it actually managed to give her one last spark of exposure before going down in history as quite the American Girl doll. Since October 3rd, 2008 the AG website has agreed to release the DVD for her and encourage further purposes through them, or a 3rd party if need be. Any attention for this quality doll is I'm sure very ppreciated. So, with that being said who knows where her future will go from here, anything is really possible when you think about it.
