Kaya, 1764

The American Girl Doll named Kaya is a Native American girl who is from the Nez Perce Tribe. This tribe is located in the Pacific Northwest Region, also
known as the Columbi River Plateu. THe full name for Kaya is
Kaya'aton'my, also known as in English "she who arranges rocks."
Kaya's story mainly takes place within the state of Idaho, located in
NorthWest America, in 1764. Something to really bare in mind
though, is this also was the time before the Native American way of
life was altered and bothered by the white settlers. The Native
American culture was affected so critically by the white settlers
because not only were the white settlers arriving in quantity, but
also in force. At this time the white man had a lot more
intelligence, knowledge, and power. Back in the day, during this time
the pistol was a great example of one of the upper hands that the
whitemen had, that the Native Americans did not, and sadly, this is
one of the things that had back then brought down tribes like
Kaya's.

The American Girl Doll Kaya initially was brought to
the world in 2002, and a very special effort was put into Kayas
creation by working closely with the Nez Perce Native Americans to
ensure the most accurate, enjoyable, and fun depiction of Kaya.
Something that's very unique, but also interesting is that Kaya is
the only American Girl doll that when her mouth is open, does not
smile. American Girl Dolls created her this way because if her teeth
showed, it would be considered offensive to her people, the Nez Perce
people. According to American Girl, Kaya is the oldest doll in the
American Girl's records, but is actually the third most recent doll
that's introduced as historical.

Kaya was created beautifully and had beautiful brown eyes; dark brown hair, and it's noticeable that no other dollars had the same beautiful and ever so unique face mold. Kaya's books are definitely one of a kind as well ! Kaya's books don't seem to be as happy and uppity as the other American Girl Dolls, and overall is really more focused on the cycle of life in tribal society. American Girl has personally even said that mostly all of the animal related products created that are in her collection are all simulated, unless saying otherwise on it. So again, Kaya can really be seen as a "one of as kind" doll. In Kaya's books
American Girl was even generous enough to add books with her that
have a whole bunch of Nez Parce phrases, stories, and minor learning
materials. Like all American Girl Dolls, Kaya is definitely one you
sure could learn a lot from !
