Julie Albright, 1974
Julie Albright grew up in San Francisco, California and is depicted by a
ten year-old girl. She grew up during the period of September of 1975
through September of 1976. She grew up during a rough time, but as
many of the other dolls did her best most of the time to make the
best out of anything and everything.
Julie's six main books were published by an amazing writer named Megan McDonald and the books themselves were illustrated by well respected Robert Hunter and Susan MacAiley.
Her series was the second book to really break from the original titling pattern that American Girl had first started off with, as Kaya was the first as noted before.
Julie Albright is also the first of the American Girl dolls to be recorded
as having divorced parents. This was a big change for American Girl,
but in the long run seemed to work rather well for them, if not
perfectly.
Julie visits her father every weekend she gets, but
primarily lives with her mother. The full facts are unknown, but we
do know that her two parents have had and still have their share of
constant conflicts.
Typically Julies books have a main focus on how acceptable genders are when deciding and allowing others to participate in school sports, and sports in general, protecting the environment, and other topics down that similar path. All of these books in the long run being very educational in a sense.
Ultimately a lot of Julie's stories also touched a bit on feminism, sexism, the Vietnman War, Sign language, and water gate. These all primarily were used to demonstrate the responsibility and important of really being able to accept and adapt to any type of change, random or not.
A lot of Julie's references also refer to the Zeitgeist of the
mid-1970s.
Julies actual doll was finally released on September 10, 2007 and acquired a huge demand and American Girl was barely able to fulfill that demand upon initial release.
Julie had great long Blonde hair with a small side braid, brown eyes, and
the same molded face as Josefina. Unfortunately however, her
introductory outfit does not include a bottom.
Julie also is recorded to only be the second doll to have her own computer game. Ultimately she had over 2 made for her though. At this time a movieis even lined up for her though, so her possibilities as a "star" at this time are endless.
