American Girl Felicity
The American Girl Felicity Merriman is a vibrant young girl growing up in 1774 in the patriotic state of Virginia. This is an exciting time period as it is right before the Revolutionary War. It is during this colonial period that the energetic Felicity has a hard time sitting still and being the typical "colonial girl". She wants to be out and active and riding those horses she loves so much. From her family and circumstances Felicity learns the meaning of independence and responsibility, although these lessons are not always learned the easy way.
It was in 1991 that the Felicity doll was added to the American Girl collection, the first after the initial launch of the first 3 dolls: Samantha, Kirsten, and Molly.
it can be very difficult to get your hands on Felicities outfits and accessories because most of them are completely sold out, as the Felicity doll has been discontinued. But because of the outcry of many who collected and loved the Felicity doll, she was brought out of retirement and many of her outfits and books and videos are still being made today.

Felicity Merriman, 1774
American Doll Felicity was of the first few dolls that were added to the
American Girls Collection, right after Samantha, Kirsten, and Molly
were introduced to the American Girls Collection in 1986. Through
this time only a few changes were made between the girls, but
Felicity was definitely right in the middle of it all to say the least.
Felicity Merriman was born in Williamsburg, Virginia
and found herself tangled between the Patriot and Loyalist family and
friends during the American Revolution at the onset. The American
Revolution was a time of struggle, sorrow, and death. All of these
very sad realities were depicted in American Girl Doll Felicity's
multiple little books that come along with her. All which were also
of course very enjoyable as well. There are also a lot of lessons to
teach minor ethics in staying true and some minor information
regarding staying loyal to another ideas.
Recognizing the issues of the American Revolution in a sense, was the primary goal for the American Girl Doll Felicity. Another great way to look at it was, with times being so rough, what little girl wouldn't crack a smile for such a beautiful little doll, especially back then.
Enabling people such an opportunity was almost unheard of, especially
during such depressing times. This almost being comparable to
providing happiness to one that is living in The Great Depression-
nearly impossible.
Unfortunately though, Felicity's items did end up all retiring in the early 2000's. During this time a lot of rumors were also created the Felicity would disappear from the actual historical line. Ultimately though, barely many of these rumors were actually proven, or later shown fact due to later actions. However, on the contrary the actual success of the made-for-TV development of Samatha's stories, Felicitiy's main stories were actually dramatized and Felicity: An American Girl Adventure was then broadcasted onto the WB network on November 29, 2005. A lot of Felicity's items were reintroduced to the public. Those items of Felicity's that were not reintroduced were redesigned. Although these alterations may have been seen as unnecessary to many, a lot of people enjoyed them. Unfortunate as it may be, it really comes down to what people like the most, much rather than what the original or classic content originally was.
Although Felicity's story was of great quality, it's a shame that her overall purpose in a sense was taken away a bit due to all of the alterations to her as a character of history, and her true meaning.
Felicity plays an important role in history as far as American Girls portray her, and is truly one of a kind.
She gave a good few little girls a lot of happiness
and hope, as I'm sure anyone who possesses her now can still
feel.
Many people wanted Felicity back then, and of course
tons more would like her now due to the increased value. Locating
American Girls in general isn't an easy task, but getting a hold of a
felicity is a whole different story.
